1 Minute in DHM: Interior Design

Over the past semester, Interior Design students
in the college of design, housing, and merchandising have been using technology to more easily
envision their design concepts. Interior Design students typically follow
the design process that is suggested by the NCIDQ:
Students will start with research, go into schematic design, next they will do design
development, construction documents, and construction administration. Students typically start the design process
in the main studio, but will use the mixed reality lab to access the tools that it offers. Often times you can see students using 3D
printers, AR or VR headsets, or even Psychophysiological Equipment. Several students, have taken advantage of
the tools that the mixed reality lab offers, and have developed their own research outside
of class. Technology that is taught in class helps students
create life-like renderings for prospective clients. By incorporating technology, Interior Design
students open a door to a new world of possibilities.
