3 Point Lighting For YouTube Videos

3 Point Lighting For YouTube Videos

Hi Des here, and in this video were going
to be looking at the 3 point lighting system for your YouTube videos. 3 point lighting
consist of a key light, fill light and a hair light. First we we’ll start with the Key light.
the key light is the main light and it should be the brightest. It should be around 3 to
4 feet away. this depends on your set up, the layout or the room you’re recording in.
For this video i’m using a soft-box which consist of individual lights. All 5 lights
are currently on. The key-light should be at a 30-45 degree angle facing the subject
or me in this case. The next light is the fill light. Now the purpose of the fill light
is to fill in the shadows created by the key-light. In this case my key-light is on my right.
My fill light is on my left. Now I’ve set this fill light about 4 to 4 and half feet
away from me. The distance of the fill light depends on current circumstance, whether it
be studio or room that you are in. Now with this fill light it has 5 lights. I currently
have 3 of those lights turned on. Here’s an example without the fill light. Finally we
have the Hair Light. This is used to light the top of the head and the top of the shoulders
and add some depth to the picture. this is an example without the Hair Light. Same picture
without the Hair Light. Just going to turn it back on. That’s with the Hair Light back
on. So you can clearly see the difference. So that’s the 3 point lighting system. Now
I’ve added a link to something similar to what i’nm using in the description below.
That’s it for this video. If you like this video, consider giving it a thumbs up. Please
