Algonquin College Journalism Program

[MUSIC] My name is Joe Banks, I’m the coordinator and professor in the
Algonquin for College Journalism program. A new student in this program will expect
to learn how to be an all-platform journalist. They can be a reporter photographer,
videographer or an online reporter for any media platform. The type of student best suited for the
journalism program is student who’s curious about the world around them that
the news and events that are happening. Someone who likes to write but also
creative, someone who likes to storytell using different media platforms, such as
photography and videography. Students in level four have the
opportunity to be placed for six weeks full time with a media
organization in and around Ottawa and around the world in some cases. They’ve had the academics, now it’s time
to get out in the real world and practice what they’ve learned. [MUSIC]
