All About Desk Returns | National Business Furniture

The desk return refers to the portion of an L-shaped or U-shaped desk that attaches to the main desk and extends outward. Purchasing these desks can be confusing, so here are some tips to help you decide. A right or left return is determined by how it’s positioned in relation your body while sitting at the
main desk, so this is the right return. Many collections offer a reversible return, which may be placed on either side the desk during
assembly, while others are strictly right or left
returns, so be sure to double check its availability and properly measure your office space. On U-shaped desks, returns are commonly referred to as
bridges, which connect the credenza to the main desk. Choosing a return is largely about your
personal preference; however, your home or office may have space constraints where one type of return will not work. Be sure to keep in mind
the overall dimensions of the desk. Remember, the total width is equal to the
desk itself. The total depth is equal to the length of the return plus the depth of the main desk. Another
factor to consider is functionality. Typically, individuals are more
comfortable using a return that correlates with their dominant handed. But you may need accommodate other
functions of your workspace such as a computer or space for guests. Not quite sure what to choose? Contact our furniture experts either at (800) 558-1010, or use Virtual Visit to see many of our L-shaped and U-shaped desks live in action.
