BFA Design at School of Visual Arts – Department Overview

(upbeat synth music) – Our campus is New York City. By becoming, you know a member,
a student in the department you are part of the industry. Opportunities start for SVA students while they’re still in school. – Students are experiencing
being here in New York City. All of our teachers,
all of our chair people actually work in their chosen professions. It’s obvious why SVA has the edge. – One of the aims of the department is to teach conceptual thinking. How do you come up with an original idea? – We get the students that
really want to work hands-on, they want to experience the process. What’s great about the
School of Visual Arts is that there’s so much that’s offered that you can experience a
little bit of a lot of things and I think in this world,
in this professional world, you need to know a little
bit about a lot of things and this is the school to do it in. – Almost all of the interaction classes are held at the different
studios or agencies. There must be about 10 classes
held at RGA, also Google. At times we had classes at Facebook, so I have to keep my finger on the pulse of actually what’s needed. And each year the department is redefined. The faculty, the alumni, the students make for a wonderful community, who have a common denominator of being very passionate
about what they’re doing. If you love what you do, then you know what, success will follow.
