Design Trends Madness

Design Trends Madness

Hello! I’m Joshua Jones I’m an interior designer from JJones Design Co. This vlog is about Design Trends Madness. I’ve worked with many clients all over the US and Canada and have seen this occurr so often. So, I feel that I need to say something about this craze for following design trends. I understand that many people see something on HGTV or they’re looking at Pinterest or magazines or whatever and they become excited about the latest trend in design. So they flock to the stores and start buying and decorating their homes to keep up with the trends they’ve seen. I also love some of the new design trends and I get excited about it too. But I have to reign myself in because I know I need to think about a design that is going to have longevity. That’s why I always encourage my clients to think more about timeless design. That would look great for at least the next decade. So they don’t have to spend so much simply keeping up with design trends. It helps save lots of money in the long term. I encourage my clients to think about what best represents you, makes you unique and stand out compared to others. Each home should be special and best represent you. Not look exactly the same as other homes just because so many people are excited about the latest trend and copying that style. That makes things boring since everything looks similar. It’s not something I recommend. I encourage every one of you to be unique. Something also to keep in mind is that some homes are designed for a specific style. Sometime, some styles aren’t going to look good for these type of homes. But, there are also other homes that are designed in a more neutral look that would work with many different styles. So it could still work out. That’s something consider. If you’re not sure if some of the design trends you like are timeless or not – please leave your comment under this vlog. I hope this vlog helps you realize how important it is to think about a timeless design that lasts longer and makes your investment worthwhile in the long run. Don’t focus on keeping up with the design trends every few months to few years which becomes more expensive. Thank you for watching us, bye!
