(upbeat music playing) (laughter) – I love you! – Every nurse said this is
the pacifier you should use. I called it a binky. – Binky? – What’s up, everybody?
Welcome back to our channel. I’m Shawn. – And I’m Andrew. – And we are – The East fam. What up?! – Today is really exciting.
It’s a video you guys have been asking for since
the day we got pregnant. Which, like, chill out, hold your horses, but it’s our nursery! – Yeah! We finally did it, we’re here. – Yeah. – This video is to show
you the design process. – So, we’ve designed the entire nursery. We picked everything out,
everything has been ordered. A lot of the stuff is on backorder, so the nursery isn’t complete. Don’t worry, we will show
you the complete nursery as soon as it’s finished. Until that point, which, at that point will probably be after the baby comes, we thought we would walk
you through everything that we picked, everything
that we’ve ordered, why we did. Yeah, just walk you
through what our little one is gonna live in. – This was a journey, this was a process, (laughter) – We are indecisive
people, and we decided, we were like, we gotta
make this thing epic. This is our child we’re
bringing into the world, they deserve epicness, so
that’s what we’re gonna do. – And, we’re gonna be spending
a lot of time in here. – Yeah. I don’t know, I
honestly, I have no idea what to expect, but I assume so. – I mean, we’ve never had a kid before, but I’ve been told you spend a lot of time in the nursery. – Yeah. If you guys haven’t yet, make sure you hit the subscribe button and turn on the notifications. – Also comment down below. If you can’t comment down
below because YouTube is being weird again, please
head over to one of our other channels like
Instagram or Facebook and let us know what
you think of this video and our nursery there. – And hit that thumbs up button. – And, super exciting,
we have another giveaway for you guys because our
awesome, awesome partner in this video and our
partner for the next, like, year is Philips Avent. If you guys saw, I went
to New York City with them and did an amazing event
all around this campaign called Momtuition. It’s essentially, like, as
soon as you become a mom you learn very quickly that
everyone has so many opinions about what’s right and
what’s wrong with your baby. Philip Avent’s campaign
Momtuition is all about how you just have this
innate feeling about what’s right for your child and yourself, and you’re just supposed
to, like, run with it. Not to mention Philips
Avent has taught us so much. They’ve hooked us up with a pediatrician, they’ve sat us down
for, like, hours on end and talked through, like,
products and how things work, and how you’re supposed
to feed your baby, and, like, all these things, they’ve been — – Very grateful. A God send. – Very grateful. – But, we’re doing a giveaway with them because they just keep
sending goodies for you guys. So, for any momma’s-to-be
or momma’s out there, if you need breast pumps,
if you need bottles, if you need Soothies, Soothie
Snuggles with, like, the little stuffed animals off them. – And these are products, if
you guys haven’t heard of them, that every birthing class and
every mom has recommended– – Literally. – so they’re really, really
good, really good quality. – Philips Avent was
literally across the board. – I’m a big fan of the Avent’s. So, the big thing I do like
about is the nipple here, so when they put their lips
around the outside here they’re going to feel a
little bit of that roughness. – Yeah, good. – Nipple confusion will be much lower. – Every single mom, every
single birthing class, every single pediatrician
was like, you need their soothies, you need
their bottles, you need their breast pumps. – They’re legit. – And I was like, okay. – They’re legit. – Thank you, Philips Avent, for being such an awesome sponsor and
for sponsoring this video, it means the world to us. Now onto the design of the nursery. So, 99% of you don’t
believe us when we say we don’t know the gender of our baby. (laughter) I don’t know why you don’t believe us, but we don’t. – Yeah. – Just because you can see
we’re sitting in the nursery now and painted the nursery blue, we still don’t know
the gender of the baby. – That’s right. – It has nothing to do with a boy. – We just love blue. – We like blue. – And it was way more
calming and soothing– – Yes. – than pink. That’s why we chose it. – Yeah, and we’re just not pink people. (laughter) – Yeah. This is like, a, yeah, it’s
pink, whatever, it’s cool. But, when we were talking
about the color of the nursery we both agreed on blue
because I really believe that blue can go either way. You can put pink and purple into blue, and it’d be really girly and pretty, and you can also make it
very masculine and boyish. – Also, I don’t know why
people make such a big deal out of that, it’s like, “Oh, you painted your nursery blue and you’re having a girl?!” it’s like, chill, I don’t think it’s– – Yeah, it’s gonna be a boss chick, okay? And a boss bro. So, in designing the
nursery, we both agreed early on that we wanted it
to be some sort of blue. Whether it was like a
mint blue or a purple blue or a whatever blue. I went to Home Depot and Sherwin Williams and I got every possible sample they had, and we probably painted 11
or 12 swatches of them all. – It was 11, yeah. – But, with every blue, it’s
baffling what they looked like on the wall because they
looked completely different. – Yeah, it looks like there’s
no difference with them here, but on the wall it’s,
like, stark differences. – I don’t know. – (Andrew) Huh. – Huh. – (Andrew) You smell paint? – No, I, like, am going cross-eyed. – (Andrew) Ohhh. You share your one favorite,
I’ll share one favorite. That’s how we’ll do it, okay? What?! (laughter) I had none of those in my list. – (Shaun) You had that one. – (Andrew) Should we have
Nash choose? Put his nose– Okay, Nash, whichever one you
put your nose up to first. (laughter) – Yeah, buddy! You picked my favorite! You picked my favorite! But we ended up going with
this color that you see it’s Sherwin Williams “Hinting Blue”, and “Hinting Blue” does
not mean that we’re hinting that it’s a boy, don’t even run with that. – We liked it because
it’s a good looking color, it goes with the rest of
our house, kind of like a neutral pastel vibe. – And it just feels so calming. – Very calming. – Like, even walking in here. – I actually had the pleasure
of painting this room. – You did. – And at first I was
dreading it, just bummed out because it, you know, it
kind of sucks painting. And I was like, you know what,
this is my Sistine Chapel, I am the Picasso to this
masterpiece, the Monet if you will. – Yeah. – So I poured my heart and
soul into cutting and edging and painting this room into perfection. – My husband is painting a nursery. – (Andrew) Oh, my gosh. – What did you do to me? – (Andrew) First of all, I’m tired, the freaking tape part sucked. – And you’re doing it with
my dad who’s a perfectionist. – (Andrew) I know, he’s
probably going to rip all of my tape off, but– – He’s fixing a couple
pieces that he felt– – (Andrew) Is he actually? – My mom told me to tell you
not to take it personally because he does it to her. – (Andrew) Doug, did you go over my stuff? – I didn’t. – (Andrew) I messed it up? – Shawn did. (laughter) – You did an amazing job. – Yeah, well, with the help of your dad, he did most of the work
to be honest, but anyway. – Hey, you did a great job and you painted it for your
little kid, that’s amazing. – I know, it’s great. It looks
good, it turned out good. – So, as soon as we knew
the color, I kind of put together this, like, vision board. I pictured, like, a really lush, cream rug that a little baby could crawl around on and probably vomit on. (laughter) I pictured, like, the
raw wood color furniture with blinds, and curtains, and drapes, but then when it comes to
actually executing all of it you get very overwhelmed very easy. So, we started with blinds. – My gosh, so many choices. – All of these. – The one non-negotiable
that I had, I was like, these things need to be blackout. – Which we got blackout. Wait, which ones did we get, this one? Yeah, I think we got this one. – Yeah. – Which is, it’s like,
a woven wood rattan. – You know, rattan. – Rattan. But it’s very natural
and it matched our crib. So, we got the crib from Pottery Barn. It’s just, like, a raw, natural wood crib. – But hard wood, remember
because the parent coach told us if the kid bites into the crib
you need hard wood not soft. – So break the teeth and not the crib. – Exactly. – Yeah. – No, it’s so their teeth
couldn’t dig into it. (laughter) No. – It made sense, it makes sense. – Thank you. – So then after we chose the blinds that we just got installed, we
wanted to do curtains as well because, I think, I
love the look of blinds with curtains over them. – Adorable. – We just had it. It is adorable. (laughter) We just had it installed
upstairs in all the room seeker videos that we showed you, and we love it. We got to choose from all of these. We ended up going with the very
simple, classic linen white. – It’s a good look, though. – They will be blackout
as well because in case the blinds, that are
blackout, aren’t enough the curtains will be
blackout on top of them. And then we had to choose from hardware. – Mmm hmm. – Which, I don’t even
know if you know that. – No, I have no idea what
you’re talking about. – We went with, like,
really, really dark almost black hardware because if
you can see in our room our doors are like black
and the hardware is black so I thought it would be a good contrast. – What hardware? What
hardware are we talking about? Oh, curtain rods? – Curtain rods. – The curtain rods. – The curtain rods. – Okay. – So then we finally decided on that, which both of those
decisions took us six months. Six months to pick out
frickin blinds and curtains. – No, it really took us like three weeks when we sat down and said
we really need to do this. – And then, I was like, okay,
before I order furniture I need to find the perfect rug, and the rug took me a long time to find because I found one on Anthropologie it was one of Joanna Gainses. It was, like, super fluffy
but then they sold out. – And super expensive. – They sold out, I didn’t get that one. – Good, thank goodness. – And then I was on the hunt
for a different version, and I found this one if you can see. It’s from, I think it’s called Loloi Rugs. – It’s amazing. Actually,
it’s Nash’s favorite rug. – Aw, he’s going to be
best friends with the baby. And it actually washes well– – It absorbs the– – You know, poop and vomit. – tears of parents well from
when we’re not sleeping well and we’ll just cry our little eyes out. – Yeah. – You did a good job with the rug. – Thanks. You like it? – Yeah, you did a good job. – And then, after I had that, I was like, okay, now we need furniture. So, we ended up going with a
dresser from Anthropologie, which is really, really
cool. Do you remember the–? – Pull up the vision board. Shawn did such a good job
with the vision board. – We didn’t end up going
with a baby dresser because I wanted something
that we could have forever and kind of use in any different setting and it not be outdated or not
look like a baby’s furniture, but also it would look
good in a baby’s room. After that, I was like, okay,
well, this light has to go. It’s just not our style, even remotely. – I don’t mind the light fixture. – You can tell, though, it
doesn’t go with the room. – Yes, and I hit my head on it
is my bigger problem with it. – Yeah. You’ll probably hit
your head on the new one. – I’m thinking about coming
in here at 2 AM, crying baby and bop! – But this one’s gonna be
rattan, so it’s very soft. It’ll just swing. – Good. – So I found the light at Pottery Barn. – I don’t know what you mean by rattan. – It’s this, see? It’s like wood. – Yeah. – It’s like woven wood. And then we also ended
up ordering a daybed because a lot of our
friends said we needed one, but I think we’re going
to end up sending it back because I think we’re
just gonna get a recliner that is like a rocking
chair and a recliner that’s, like, comfy enough to sleep in. – And if you guys remember
in our house buying series when we were buying this house, if you haven’t, there’s a whole
playlist on it, go find it, but, we wanted to have a
nursery on the same floor as the master so that it
would be super easy to get to, and, so, we’re not getting a daybed because the master is on the same floor, we could just go to our bed. – No, I mean, let me clear
up, we got the daybed. (laughter) We bought it. We just have,
need, to send it back. Let us know, what do you guys think? Do we need to keep the
daybed and a rocking chair? Or is just a rocking chair-recliner good? I think a rocking chair-recliner’s good. – Save us some money, go
with just the rocking chair. – We have not picked
out the rocking chair. We went shopping. We’re picking out rocking chairs. – Part of me hates shopping, but the other part of
me realizes this nursery is where our little child,
the miniature Shawn, is gonna be spending lots
of the time, so I need– – Or mini Andrew. – I need to be making this
the piece de resistance. It means the piece of, I
don’t know what that means. (upbeat music playing) – But at the end of the day,
we didn’t pull the trigger. – Shawn was so pumped, she was like, “Oh, yeah, I know the exact
rocking chair I want.” – Oh, it’s so comfy. And I can reach. The reason why is I had selected
one that wasn’t a recliner. – That is not– (laughter) – I could get a footstool – It’s not the same. This is exhausting. Uh, spoiler alert, guess who’s
going to win this argument? Not me! – And I was like, I think we
should just get a recliner and bring back the daybed. – I agree with you. – So, all of that furniture
gets delivered this month and next month, so it
will be part furnished after the baby gets here. And then because the
baby will probably sleep in our room for awhile, we
ended up getting a bassinet. We talked about getting a Snoo, but we were like, I don’t know. And so I just got the
Uppababy bassinet stand that the bassinet sits on. That will be in our bedroom. Last thing that we shopped
for was organization because we’re going to have the dresser, which has six drawers, and we can’t put all of our stuff in that. But we don’t have, like, a
changing table or anything, we’re just going to have a changing tray. So we have our closet, and we also went shopping for baskets because baby stuff is so small and you can’t just set
it out because it just. – And we got rattan baskets. Is that what it was? – We got rattan baskets. – We got rattan baskets! (cheering) – You’re learning! – Yes! – So, I’ll show you the
chaos that’s in the closet. We’re still working on it. Okay, so this is our closet. It’s a mess right now, but
we have baby clothes so far, this is going to be
baby’s coming home outfit, so a boy or a girl. – (Andrew) This is what
I’m most excited about, is dressing the baby up and looking good. – You just tie it in a knot. We already have our baby books, and then these are the
baskets I was telling you I got from The Container Store. – (Andrew) Wait, can I ask them something? I do want you guys to comment down below, we are on a frenzy, I
can’t wait to read at night these little children’s books. My favorite children’s
book was The Giving Tree. What is your favorite? Comment down below. – (Shawn) Mine was Guess
How Much I Love You? – From the back. – That’s not how it’s [Inaudible] – Is it in that? – Oh yeah. Oh, okay, so this basket is our collection of baby bottles right now. As I said at the beginning,
this is one of the products that literally every
mom, every nurse, said use Philips Avent bottles
and if you’ve seen my In My Baby Hell video
I showed you that I am actually taking bottles
to the hospital with me, and that’s because I
wasn’t able to breastfeed I was allergic to milk, so
I had to be formula fed. So, my mom said to definitely
bring, like, a natural bottle to the hospital, and then
Philips Avent said also bring an anti-colic
bottle to the hospital, which helps with colic. It just makes it so the baby
doesn’t suck in any air. What’s in this basket? Oh, these are all my
burp cloths right now. – (Andrew) Something they throw up on? – Yeah. Look at it, guys! – Oh, these are– – (Andrew) The toy bin! – These are toys. – (Andrew) Yes! We are, like, Very Hungry Caterpillar, we got some, like, little
of this crinkly books. – Toys with primary colors– – Yes. – And geometric shapes. – Don’t worry, I will get
another matching rattan basket. In this basket, so, a ton of blankets. People really like to gift us blankets. – This is where we have our bedding, okay? I’m really excited about this. This is all of the bedding for the daybed, so it might be going back. Probably. This is for the crib sheet. Baby bees again. I have the
gray to go with the blue. This is our changing pad cover. Baby bees again. We have a couple of them. It’s really cute. – Guys, we’re obsessed with bees. Shawn has made several references because my family were bee keepers. We’re actually going to be selling some of our family honey, so be
on the lookout for that. – Yeah. – It’s gonna be epic. – We got clothes. – (Andrew) Swag! – We got baby socks. Oh, and these are all of our onesies. Oh my gosh, and our shoes. Gosh, we have little Converse, Nike. – That’s awesome, I can’t wait. – This is our basket filled with swaddles. – (Andrew) This is the most
comfortable, softest thing ever. Here, I’ll hold it. – Okay. – Yeah, there you go. – Thanks. These are all of our swaddles. – We have way too many swaddles. – People gift swaddles. – Baby showers, baby. – And then, this, my lovely
Soothie Snuggle basket. Which, again, this is
one of those products that moms said were a staple. As Andrew just showed you, you can actually take the pacifier off. So when we were doing
our birthing classes, every nurse said this is
the pacifier you should use because it’s one piece
and it doesn’t come apart. – And the nipple confusion
is lower on these. The baby’s latch on quicker.
This is what I learned. – And it attaches to a stuffed animal, which can be, like, a really
good comfort for baby. I love these. We have an entire thing
filled with just the paci’s. I called it a binky. – I called it a pacifier. A binky? – It’s called a binky. – What did you guys call your pacifiers? – But these are awesome,
and they’re so cute. You see a little baby with
the little stuffed animal all hanging out of
their mouth, oh my gosh. Up there is all stuffed animals. We have our– – Gonna milk you like a cow, girl! – We have our breast pump, and then we have the
natural bottles again. Which, who knows if we
have a colicky baby, but we’ll get more anti-colic bottles if we have a colicky baby, but that’s the cleaner and
the storage for the bottles. Oh, and then these, this is
the cutest little thing ever. – Those are adorable. Apparently those aren’t even
the smallest ones you can buy. Guys, I’m curious, after seeing
our little closet storage of the baby, are we missing anything? Let us know. I feel like we have a lot
of stuff, more than we need. – Yes. And more coming. Yeah. So, so far that is our nursery. It’s set up right now as a guest bedroom because we have so many
people coming to stay with us. But, Nash on the favorite rug. We have the crib. Yeah, this is from Pottery Barn. Our Mawmaw got it for us. – (Andrew) This is huge
because this kid is probably going to be carrying
around their blankie. – You think this is going
to be their blankie? – Yeah, I do. It’s a good one. – It’s really cool. It
has all animals on it. So we’re gonna still do curtains along the sides of the windows. I really want to, as
soon as we have our baby, and we figure out if it’s a girl or boy, put their name up here in, like, a sign. That would be really cute. – Why did you go with
mint colored pillows? – I don’t love matchy-matchy,
I like different hues. – I respect. Respect. – The rug. This is probably
going to be like rocking chair and part of the book shelf and toys. Curtains on the side. On that side, we’re
going to do the dresser with the changing tray, probably some art work on top of it. See, set up as a guest bedroom. This is the nursery, guys. We’ll show you when it’s
completely done what it looks like. We’ll show you pictures,
we’ll show you a video. Let us know what we’re missing. What is good? What’s bad? All of your opinions
that you’re gonna share. – Thank you for watching this video. If you haven’t, hit the subscribe button, hit the thumbs up button. – Turn on notifications. – Yeah, that’s right. And thank you for watching. – See you next time, guys. – It’s the East fam, out. (upbeat music playing)
