First Year Experience | K-State AP Design

The friends that I’ve made the very first
year of freshman studio, I still go back to them. They’re very close to me and I still use
them as resources for my projects. I enjoyed the cohort system we have here because
even in first year you get to see people interested in the different departments already and you
get to see that passion and drive they have for it. The experience you get with your professors
compared to anywhere else is very different, because you get to actually spend time with
them more than just five to ten minutes. From the first day, you’re learning plans
and sections and that’s like … the rest of your life. So I feel from the onset you’re already
doing things you need to know. Most of it is what you’ll end up using for
your second year up to fifth year. Yeah, my freshmen classes prepared me for
the future. For example, History of Architecture was very
unique and different and I still use it for referencing precedence for projects. First year is just an amazing time. It’s really time consuming, but you are
learning lots of things that you’ll need later on.
