Florent (social entrepreneur) hosted Anna (graphic designer) thanks to Pack Your Skills – Interview

My name is Florent, I am 30 years old, and I am co-founder of the newspaper “Le Drenche”. Le Drenche is a newspaper based on an extremely simple observation that we had trouble forming an opinion. The principle is easy : for each hot topic, we find two people who know the topic well, one to defend the pros, and the other to defend the cons. And the aim is that the reader can make up his own mind, by reading the arguments for and against. The concept of Pack Your Skills is simple. It is about people who have skills and want to travel, and projects with social impact who lack skills and can host. So, basically, the purpose of Pack Your Skills is to match the two parties and make great encounters. It was a great opportunity for us, first, to test a new concept. And then it happened when we needed to push our mock-up forward, so we needed a graphic designer for a short period of time. So, for us, it was absolutely perfect, since we needed a skill, for a short period, to develop something, so it was perfect timing. Anna, whom we received for two weeks at Le Drenche is a 23 years old Czech graphic designer, who studies in Birmingham, and who is really really delightful. For 15 days, she helped us develop our paper model. This means we have a newspaper, “Le Drenche”, that we wanted to develop so that it would be more modern, more understandable, and refined. So she helped us develop that, by bringing her skills. The impact Anna had on Le Drenche will be visible on the 4th issue of our newspaper, that will be released in April, since the model will have changed a lot into something more impactful. So it will take shape on the issue Number 4 when it is released. I really liked this experience. First because it makes you make encounters. We were really lucky to receive Anna and we’re very happy about those encounters. In addition, it helps us move forward faster with our project so it is a double benefit. You needn’t be afraid of hosting. It makes you go out of your comfort zone and it is not always something easy to do, but it really creates great experiences. At least, as far as we’re concerned, we loved it, and we’re ready to do it again. And if it was useful for us, why wouldn’t it be useful for you ?
