Florida: Open for Business?

Republican senators promised to
eliminate job killing regulations and red tape. The legislature set out to fulfill that
promise by getting rid of unnecessary licensing laws, including one that makes
it a crime to practice interior design without a college degree, and a two-year
apprenticeship. Some laws are designed to protect the
public, but others like Florida’s interior design law, do nothing but protect
industry insiders from fair competition. Lobbyists for the American Society of
Interior Designers are trying to derail reform efforts by stirring up trouble in
Tallahassee before the legislative session ends this friday. Republican senators promised less
government and more economic opportunity in the sunshine state. Won’t you call and say you expect them to
keep that promise?
