How to Choose Glass for Glass Art : Using Cathedral Glass for Glass Art

We’re going through the different selections
of glass to try and find the glass for our next project. And I wanted to share with you
another type of glass that I’m just, absolutely adore. You may see a lot of this type of glass
in your Cathedrals, and that is what it is properly labeled. It’s Cathedral glass. These
are very rich colored glasses and very translucent. You can see through them very well. This is
a red. There’s a little bit of a texture, but it’s very smooth. It almost cuts like
butter. This is your cherry and it is also fusible glass. Which means you can melt it
down. But we like to use these for the leaded and the foiled pieces. There’s also, I have
right here, a dark green Cathedral. And something like this, I guess, you could use actually
to make your Christmas ornaments. If you wanted to do holly berries, and the leaves that go
with them, that would be a great selection.
