How To Paint Blurred Horizontal Stripes | Dulux

Before you get started with this on-trend
effect prepare your wall by checking it’s free of cracks, lumps and bumps.
Then paint with two coats of your chosen base colour. This will give you a great canvas
to work on. The blurred horizontal stripe effect will need a bit of preparation.
So make sure you’ve got chalk, tape and string handy.
Start by measuring the highest point of your design and mark in chalk.
Ideally using the same colour as one of your paint colours, so it’s easy to paint over.
Do the same on the other side of the wall. Repeat this two or three times below your
first marks. Now here’s the clever trick- measure enough
string to stretch between the two points. Run your chalk along the length of the string.
Now tape each end to the points on the wall. Pluck the string and you’ll find your left
with a chalk mark. This will give you a guideline to follow and make the creative bit easier.
Do the same lower down the wall, and you’re all set to start painting. Using a medium amount of paint on you brush, follow the guidelines.
You don’t need to apply too much pressure as the idea is to get a beautiful wispy effect.
It’s all part of the look, so don’t worry about getting those stripes perfectly solid.
They are supposed to look a bit uneven. You can add in as many colours as you like- and
use different sized brushes for a lovely layered effect.
Now you’ve added a really personal touch into your home, and created a unique look for your
friends to admire.
