You’re gonna make mistakes in these classes and that you learn from it. That’s how you grow. Students who excel in classes like these show interest in being creative and liking hands-on activities. Now I think it’s a huge break from Math class. I always found Interior Design to be my fun class. But it’s also challenging. We learn about more of the elements of design: color, shape, form, and how we put that into decorating a room. You can do drafting and do floor planning…with templates You do all these different kinds of like color schemes together which would look best, and also you do a website called Homestyler. And it’s basically, you design a kitchen…or your dream bedroom…and basically just put together all the different things that you’d need to make that room. Differentiating the differences between housing styles, and memorizing the different…the little, little parts of each house, and knowing how to tell which one is which. Having your finished design and seeing somebody else’s. And its really never your… your final design, because once you see somebody else’s, you might want to make changes… It’s basically just having a growth mind-set. I want them to be able to see the world around them and incorporate all the elements of design. They’re going to have to design like their dorm room, their first apartment, first home, and all these skills they will be able to use. We do show some shows from HGTV: Fixer Upper, Property Brothers…an opportunity for to them see things outside of Sioux City, Iowa. In our Interior Design class, at one point, it was right at the beginning of the year, but we made 50 centerpieces for tables at the top 5% banquet. That was at the Convention Center. And we were also able to design our own kitchen, so we were able to choose our own countertops, our own like, whatever we wanted: an island or not. How we wanted to shape our kitchen, pick the painting… So, in this project we had to do our dream bedroom, and you find all different types of things like flooring, ceiling, walls, colors, furniture, windows, curtains, the lighting. So this has less to do with architecture more to do “How are you gonna make the room come alive?” Yes. This is more…all you doing hands-on, and you can also do it online. I personally did a poster, because it’s just more, I don’t know, I’m more of a hands-on type of person. And so it was more fun to for me to do this.
