Meet Zen Glass Studio

We started Zen Glass in 2002, and Josh and I were just two glass blowers that wanted to start a studio here, and there
was really nothing available to us here in St. Petersburg, and so we started a
studio and small gallery over on Central Avenue and finally six years ago found the warehouse Arts District over here and developed our business enough to be able to afford a larger space and been here ever since. There is a lot of
entrepreneurs here a lot of mom and pops places, a lot of people that have an idea
and went for it, and we fit in well with that. You know, so
all these things kind of kept reflecting back, and we needed bank accounts, we had to
start a business when all we were thinking about was really just starting
a studio. When we first started out, we did a couple of national banks, but ever since I was little had an account in a credit union and always really wanted to find somewhere that reinvests into our community and keeps our money local and enables our business to thrive as well. We came across Grow Financial when it
used to be MacDill. The reason why we opened to the public in the first place
was to bring awareness. You know, people see these beautiful pieces and they’re
amazed and have no idea how it’s done or sometimes can’t even appreciate the
amount of work that goes into it. And it’s also like kind of starting in
Kindergarten again everybody gets a little bit clumsy when they first come
in, and after about the first 10 minutes, they start to get a groove going and
they can just feel it, and then by the time the class is over, they want more. They don’t want it to end, so hopefully they’ll come back and do it again and
tell friends and family to come, and for us that’s that’s good business. We want people to come here and have a good time and do something different. We found a few years back that people desire things less and experiences more,
and what’s more fun than to come and blow glass and play with fire.
