MIAD Interior Architecture + Design

MIAD Interior Architecture + Design

The Interior Architecture and Design program
has three specific disciplines: interiors or what we call interior design,
architecture and furniture design furniture and lighting design. For an interior designer who might have once thought of their discipline as purely at
the scale the room with material, color texture, fixtures, furniture – that has
expanded. The designer of interiors has to be able to negotiate a much larger
scale. It’s a dynamic economy. We traverse we move laterally and so students have
to be prepared to go from communication design to furniture design to working in
architecture firm to maybe being on their own in doing their own design
company for a while. And that flexibility is really imparted to the student from
day one and it’s a fundamental part of how Interior Architecture and Design
works. We’re critical thinkers and makers. We develop character which means the
student can’t just be a maker you have to understand in an analytical way what
they’re making and why and then they have to be able to articulate it to
other people. And then of course that leads to career. Over eighty percent of
our students are already placed out of Senior Thesis. So there’s no
disconnect between the college environment and the work environment.
Our students are prepared they’re confident and they make an
impact.
