Hello my name is Andrew Campbell, welcome
to AC Silver. This fine and impressive, antique George VI
cut glass and English sterling silver inkstand, is quite an exceptional example.
It has a rounded rectangular form, in the iconic Art Deco style.
The stand retains the original hallmarked pen supports ornamented with scrolling fluted
terminals. The impressive stand is fitted with the original
detachable hallmarked sterling silver inkpot receiver, embellished with an applied moulded
border. The receiver retains the original and impressive,
cut glass ink pot with hallmarked cylindrical silver mount and fitted with a hinged hallmarked
iconic Art Deco cushion shaped, stepped cover. The stand is supported by four cast and applied
sterling silver fluted feet, accented with iconic Art Deco style elevated terminals,
in junction with the body. The underside of the stand bears the retailer’s
mark ‘Mappin & Webb Ltd.’ Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the
stand and part hallmarks to the receivers and mount are all very clear.
At a weight of 25.2 troy ounces, excluding the ink pot, the piece is an exceptional gauge
of silver. The piece has been professionally polished
and can be considered to be in presentation condition.
The highlighted features, of this exceptional ink stand, make it one that could be sold
with my highest recommendations. If you require any further information or
assistance regarding this exceptional ink stand, please do not hesitate to contact us
via telephone or email.
