The beautiful grain and smooth surface are so beautiful. The first step is to cut the well-dried (Moisture content 8~12%)camphor plank to the desired size. I tried to make it small, but I made it with a big cutting board for a gift. The size of the cutting board was 420 * 250 * 25T 2EA and 450 * 300 * 28T 1EA. I used to make electric planes, but now I use automatic planes. It is really easy. It was well polished. When filling a small hole, it mixes wood powder and bond, but when the hole is not big enough, put the bond first like this, and put the wood flour on it with sandpaper. Add a little bit of wood flour on top of it until it is clean. Do you see any holes filled in like this?
The fault was removed. This time we make the length 450 width 300 thickness 28T cutting board. Before using the automatic planer, if the concave side goes down and there is a shake by pressing the wood on a flat surface, the plane must first be flattened, and then a balanced cutting board is made later. Sanding is first sandpaper # 80, then sanded three times to # 200 # 400. Thereafter, water sanding and oil sanding are added. I also made a cutting board stand.
Do you know the difference in quality between when it is and when it is not? Use a band saw to make a groove in the place where the cutting board will be inserted. Next, use a belt sander to make a smooth curve. Use a trimmer to chamfer make for high-quality cutting board. Drill using a drilling machine. Finish the cutting board holder with trimmer and assemble. Now we are making wooden sticks to fill the holes. If you put the wooden stick and put the bond, than cutting board holder is completed. After the bond is completely hardened, put it in water for about 3 hours to make the surface rough. After 3 hours, sand the surface with # 120 sandpaper while the tree is wet. Do you see falling water?:) Sanding until the water is dry and the surface is smooth. This way, it does not get rough even when washed in water like now. Dip once more in water and repeat twice more with # 400 sandpaper. Finally, finish using # 400 sandpaper by hand. If you do this carefully, it will be very smooth. The sandpaper process using water only takes two days. So this video has a lot of workload. When this process is over, it is completely dry and sanding again. It is finally time to do oil coating. First apply lots of Howard Butcher block oil on the cutting board. This oil is harmless to human body. Howard Butcher block oil penetrates the surface of the cutting board and forms an oil film on the inside. Normally, it absorbs oil by immersing it in an oil container, but since I do not make only a cutting board Oil well enough to allow this to flow down sprinkle, then let it absorb for at least 10 hours. Nearly last, I rub it with a # 400 sandpaper on a board that has absorbed enough oil. If you look closely, you can see something like a grease spot. This is not a grease spot, but the lint on the surface of the wood. When all this lint disappears, it gets a smooth, water-resistant surface. Use a tissue paper to wipe all the surface oil and dry it again. This time, the surface is coated with Watco butcher block oil.Howard butcher block oil has good permeability and Watco butcher block oil has good coating ability. Because Watco butcher block oil is a hardening oil, it is used in a small container little by little. Use the syringe to put it in a small container. My baby have a cold ache these days. All people watch this video please be careful of cold ache. Because Watco butcher block oil is a hardening oil, it can leave marks if applied too thickly. In my case, apply oil and wipe off with cotton after 2 ~ 3 hours. Repeat this process two or three times. Laser engraving is done using each popular. I originally had to do the oil work before, but I forgot. Finally, the coating is made using wax for the cutting board. At this time, you can use conditioning oil. Leave the butcher block conditioning oil in the house and apply it to the cutting board once every six months. Then you can use the cutting board for a long time. I worked with a hand grinder for convenience. However, you can also work with your hands. It looks like the cutting board shines brightly.:) Finally finished. It takes a lot of care to make a cutting board. It is so beautiful. Maybe people receive gifts are happy, too?
