User Experience Designer, Kalila is Working at Comcast

Hi, my name is Kalila, and
I’m a Senior User Experience Designer at Comcast. I usually ride my bike in,
as long as it’s not raining. I try to get in a little
bit early to get settled in. I’ve been with Comcast
for about three years now. Since I started here, I have
worked on the Xfinity TV app, our X1
platform, and now I’m working on customer experience
and working on elevating new methods of self service. I would say the
easiest way to describe what I do is that not only
do I make things look good, I make them easy to use as well. We’ve gone through a
lot of our work planning and leveled effort planning– Around like 09:30, have
a sync with our dev team and our product management teams
and the UX team to cover what we did the day before and what
we’re planning on doing that day. So we want to look at that, look
at the Getting Started Guide work, look at the emails. In these types of meetings,
it’s very important for us to describe the rationale that
we have behind the designs that we create. We have a lot of really
smart, talented individuals, and it’s a very collaborative
and encouraging environment. Tomorrow I’m remote,
and I’m comping for like a week and a half
for conferences and vacations, so– but I’m back. On June 3rd, I
will be full force. We were so excited! Designing at Comcast allows
for a coveted opportunity to design across a
multitude of platforms. We basically design
all the interactions that our customers have with us. Currently, I am
working on a project where we are striving to improve
the customer’s experience from point of sale all the
way through installation and troubleshooting. We’re very lucky here to
have a usability research lab where we can bring
in real customers to test out our designs. And we transfer our findings
into the next design iteration. Since I’ve been
here, our team also won an Emmy for our
User Interface Design on the X1 platform. What made me the most
proud that we actually were able to take
this small team and make such a big impact. I was talking to somebody
and they were like, wow, that was impressive. You know, the visual
design, user experience, it’s like, but– so how did you do that? Comcast is really
providing me with knowledge that I would not have been
able to get elsewhere. So I would say to be
successful at Comcast, it’s very important to
be collaborative and also have a very open mind. As a senior user experience
designer at Comcast, I strive to transform
the customer experience. We have millions of users. At the end of the day,
they’re the ones that matter. They’re the ones that
we’re designing for. [APPLAUSE] Do we have any
questions out there? It’s a wrap. It’s a wrap? Cut it, print it.
